Gobustan Nature Reserve is a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the old city of Baku and the old city of Sheki. This happened due to the unique cave paintings of the Stone Age - petroglyphs.
Since the beginning of the 20th century archaeological excavations have been carried out on the territory of Gobustan. About 6,000 cave paintings, more than 20 dwellings and shelters, and over 40 burial mounds were found. Scientists have found that petroglyphs have different periodicities and were created between the Mesolithic and the Middle Ages. Here you can see the ritual and memorial images of man and animals, scenes of hunting and life.
During a tour of Gobustan you can enjoy beautiful natural views, explore natural open-air petroglyphs and visit the modern interactive museum.
