Mausoleum of the imperishable old man Diri Baba

This unique monument of medieval architecture can be visited during a tour of Azerbaijan. It was carved into the rock at the beginning of the 15th century by order of Sheikh Ibrahim from the Shirvanshah dynasty.

The body of a local saint was placed in it, which after death remained imperishable for many decades. Pilgrims from all over the world went to the relics of the saint. According to legend 300 years after the death Diri Baba woke up and disappeared, after which his cell was walled up.

Now the mausoleum is an active religious object, rituals and prayers are performed in it. During the tour you can see the beautiful architecture of the tomb with many exquisite elements.
