At the source of the history of the Batumi Botanical Garden is a French gardener of noble origin Mikhail d'Alfons - at the end of the 19th century he was appointed the main gardener of Batumi, began work on the seaside boulevard and conducted the first research on the territory of the future botanical garden.
In 1912 the Batumi Botanical Garden was officially opened. For more than a hundred years its territory has been a favorite vacation spot for tourists and a place for serious research for scientists. It is located in an area of 113 hectares and has more than 5000 living plants from around the world. The park is divided into several zones in which certain plants are planted - there is the Himalayan department, the Australian department, the Mexican department, the Mediterranean department and others. Special collections of roses, camellias, citrus, fruit and berry plants deserve great attention.
Wonderful beaches and beautiful viewing platforms make the tour of the Batumi Botanical Garden a real journey.
