The city of Sighnaghi (Signagi) is located in the Kakheti region, which is considered the birthplace of winemaking. The exact time of the founding of the city is unknown, but in the Middle Ages it was an important defense point. This is evidenced by the well-preserved fortress wall with a length of almost 5 km with 28 watchtowers along the perimeter. During a tour of the Sighnaghi Wall a beautiful view of the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus Mountains opens.
Signagi is called the “City of Love” thanks to the round-the-clock registry office, where you can marry at any time of the day or night. This is a very photogenic city: its streets are paved with pavers, local cafes offer beautiful views of the Alazani Valley with vineyards, almost always during a tour of Signagi you can admire the view of the mountains of the Greater Caucasus.
The Museum of History and Ethnography in Signagi deserves special attention. It contains unique exhibits and archaeological finds, as well as a large collection of paintings by the famous Georgian primitive artist Niko Pirosmani.
Near Sighnaghi is one of the main shrines of the Georgian people - the Bodbe monastery. On its territory is located the Church of St. George, which stores the relics of the baptist of Georgia, St. Nino.
