Prometheus Cave

In western Georgia, near the city of Kutaisi, there are several natural caves. During an excursion to the cave of Prometheus you can get acquainted with the underworld of the country - to see stalactites, stalagmites and ornamental stones.

According to legend in this cave the Georgian hero Amirani was chained to the wall - the hero of the ancient Georgian epic and an analog of the Greek Prometheus. He angered the gods by teaching people blacksmithing and giving them power over iron.

The cave of Prometheus has a length of 11 kilometers and is actively explored by scientists. For tourists a 1 km long tunnel is available, which is equipped for movement has varying lighting and music accompaniment.
